We are looking for a senior soil and ecosystem scientist B4 (Professor) to lead research alongside a committed team of scientists at our Bangor site in the heart of Snowdonia.  This post is embedded within the UKCEH Soils and Land Use Science Area which integrates and brings together teams at three UKCEH research sites at Bangor, Lancaster and Wallingford, our other five Science Areas and many national and international collaborators. The post covers two main responsibilities:
(i)  To lead a soil and ecosystem research portfolio, working with stakeholders, securing funding, overseeing and contributing to developing our interdisciplinary field measurement and integrated modelling program and deliver impacting science in the form of peer reviewed publications or reports.
(ii) The post also involves leading and managing staff that will include research scientists and may include project managers, casual surveyors and PhD students.

Main Responsibilities/ Activities
You will be a recognised leader in soil and ecosystem science, capable of running complex areas of activity or science projects. We seek someone with soils expertise in one of the following (although not limited to) soils and ecosystem research areas:

• Soil function, health and restoration
• Land Use and climate change impacts
• Net zero

Postdoctoral Researcher, Colorado State University, USA
The Department of Ecosystem Science & Sustainability and the Department of Soil & Crop Sciences at Colorado State University (CSU) invite applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar to analyze climate change impacts on agriculture and water resources. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in academic publishing, relevant domain expertise, excellent written and oral communication, and considerable experience with quantitative data analysis of environmental and spatial datasets (e.g., using Matlab, R, or Python). A PhD in environmental science or a related discipline is required at the start of the appointment. The start date is flexible.

Postdoc and Phd Position, Michigan State University, USA
The ERSAM Lab is currently looking for both a postdoctoral fellow ("Research Associate" in MSU terms) and a PhD student (or two!) to work on our new NSF CAREER award focused on estimating forest carbon uptake using remote sensing and modeling. The work is mainly focused on temperate forests in the eastern United States, with connections to the sites affiliated with the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON). There will be opportunities to work both with traditional remote sensing products (Landsat) and emerging tools like imaging spectroscopy and lidar from the NEON Airborne Observation Platform and three dimensional radiative transfer models.

The postdoc position is posted here: https://careers.msu.edu/cw/en-us/job/507680/research-associatefixed-term - feel free to email Kyla with questions, but you must apply through the posting. For graduate research check out the MSU Geo grad info page for more info about the department, and you may also be interested in the Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior (EEB) Interdisciplinary Graduate Program. Email Kyla if you are interested! If you're just starting to think about graduate school, there are a number of great 'how to prepare for grad school' articles online. Here's a great one from Dr. Jacquelyn Gill.
Review for postdoc position begins: 10/01/2021

Postdoctoral Researcher, Berlin Germany
We invite applications for a 3 year postdoctoral research fellow in hydrological modelling (80%) in a hydrological and ecological catchment perspective. The position is part of the Einstein Research Unit “Climate and Water under Change (CliWaC)”, which is a transdisciplinary research initiative of the Berlin University Alliance to address water-related risks under climate change. CliWaC will bring together social and natural science as well as practical expertise from stakeholders to support the governance of mitigation and adaptation measures in response to climate change. Further job announcements of CliWaC will be published at: www.cliwac.de/jobs

We seek a dynamic, motivated and ambitious scientist to join an existing interdisciplinary science and modelling team on Landscape Ecohydrology to support the evolution and growth of coupled climate-hydrological-ecohydrological modelling. It is expected that the modelling will utilise outstanding long-term data sets from instrumented research sites in Brandenburg and Berlin. The successful candidate will have experience in the development and application of numerical models for different purposes, across various scales and environmental science contexts. The successful candidate should be experienced in combining process-based understanding with strong numerical / computational skills. Experience with programming is essential. Expertise in remote sensing & data assimilation and / or incorporation of tracers into hydrological models would be advantageous. Access to high-performance computer clusters is available to facilitate use and development of “state of the art” research models.

Post Doc in Wetland Greenhouse Gas Cycling, University of Toledo, USA
The Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Toledo, OH seeks a postdoctoral research associate who will investigate plant controls on biogeochemical transformations and CO2/CH4 fluxes within coastal terrestrial and aquatic interfaces (TAIs). Coastal TAIs are complex systems characterized by a high degree of spatial and temporal heterogeneity in biogeochemical cycling often described as hot spots and hot moments. Much of the complexity is due to plant-microbe interactions that mediate the soil redox environment. The focus of this position is to advance our process-level understanding of plant-water-microbe interactions that generate spatiotemporal variation across upland-to-wetland gradients.
